How The Dunlop Stinger Was Created

Featuring The New Direzza™ DZ101 Tire

The Dunlop Direzza DZ101 is the ultimate tire for car junkies. In order to make this bad boy stand out, we needed a car-the perfect car. So we put our heads together and created this extreme fantasy machine - the Stinger. Here's a step-by-step description of how we designed the Dunlop Stinger cyber car and featured it, along with Dunlop Direzza DZ101 tires, in an awesome poster-that you can own!

	Step 1 - Concept Drawing Believe it or not, the entire process began with two simple things-paper and a pencil.

	Step 2 - Rough 3-D Using computer software, we transformed our flat pencil drawing into a 3-D skeleton.

	Step 3 - Modeling Next, we added detail. And we mean detail. We're talkin' everything from headlights and grilles to weather stripping to windshield-washer sprayers.

	Step 4 - Environment We chose a killer photograph for the background of the poster, then carefully manipulated the Dunlop Stinger to look like a natural part of the surroundings.

	Step 5 - Texturing Every material on the Dunlop Stinger was made from scratch to mimic car textures. For instance, the paint had to look glossy, and the rims had to shine.

Step 6 - Rendering To add depth and realism to the poster, the graphics had to be rendered. This was very time consuming, and some images took up to 16 hours to complete!

Step 7 - Post This is where we added our finishing touches and final effects. Many are not even visible to the naked eye, but the end result is breathtaking!

About The Designer Max Ulichney is the cyber genius behind the Dunlop Stinger. An expert in 3-D programs and design, Max has been creating abstract car concepts for around eight years. "The Dunlop Stinger is by far my greatest CG accomplishment yet," he says. Max is grateful for the opportunity to work on such an exciting project with Dunlop. "I can't wait to see what we come up with next!"
